SoftWave Therapy

SoftWave Shockwave Therapy is commonly used to help treat:

  • Shoulder pain (rotator cuff, tendinitis, frozen shoulder)

  • Low back pain

  • Tennis elbow & golfer’s elbow

  • Plantar fasciitis

  • Knee pain (including patellar tendinitis and osteoarthritis)

  • Hip pain & bursitis

  • Achilles tendinitis

  • Muscle strains & ligament injuries

  • Chronic tendon and soft-tissue injuries

  • Joint degeneration and arthritis-related pain

  • Pre-performance or event preparation

💡 SoftWave is especially effective for chronic conditions that have not responded well to rest, medication, or conventional therapy.

SoftWave Shockwave Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses low-intensity acoustic (sound) waves to stimulate the body’s natural healing and repair mechanisms. These sound waves are delivered through a handheld applicator and travel safely through the skin to reach injured or painful tissue—without needles, medication, or surgery.

When the acoustic waves enter the tissue, they create a mechanical signal that increases circulation, reduces inflammation, and activates the body’s regenerative response at a cellular level. This includes stimulating stem cells and promoting the formation of new blood vessels, which helps damaged or chronically irritated tissue begin healing again. Many pain conditions persist because the body becomes “stuck” in a non-healing state—SoftWave helps restart that process.

SoftWave therapy is commonly used for joint pain, tendon and ligament injuries, muscle strains, and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. Treatments are quick, comfortable, and require little to no downtime. By supporting the body’s own ability to repair and regenerate, SoftWave Shockwave Therapy offers a safe, effective option for long-term pain relief and improved function.

What to Expect During Your SoftWave Session

Your first visit takes about 30–45 minutes and includes a brief consultation so Dr. Ito can identify the right treatment area.

During the treatment itself:

  • A small amount of gel is applied to the skin — similar to getting an ultrasound

  • A handheld applicator delivers gentle acoustic pulses to the area

  • Most patients feel mild pressure or a light tapping sensation — it is not painful

  • The treatment portion takes approximately 10–15 minutes

  • There is no downtime — you can return to normal activity the same day

Many patients notice improvement after their very first session.

TESTIMONIALS

“I had swelling resulting from hand tendonitis and had had some luck with acupuncuture years before so decided to visit Dr. Ito. I found him to be very good in spending time with me to really get a sense of me holistically before jumping in and performing the acupuncture. He also gave me good advice about how to keep my hands from swelling in the future.  I was amazed at how fast the treatment worked.  The swelling was down by 70% the next day and within 2 days was completely gone. I wouldn't hesitate going back to Dr. Ito for further treatments. I found him to be caring, professional and was really surprised when he called me the next day to see how I was feeling- that's something that's pretty rare these days!”- Judith T.

“David is a key part of my pain management team. I know I will leave feeling better than when I came in. I hurt my back last November and also suffer from chronic pain. I get Shockwave therapy treatments. I had never tried or heard about them before. After my injury, before treatment, I could barely walk. I got pulled by very strong dogs. They threw my back out. David is very welcoming and helpful. Highly recommend!” - Katie J.

“Dr Ito has been such a valuable aid in my healing journey! Every time I have visited him I’ve gotten such relief from my pain. I first started seeing him for my frozen shoulder - he applied the Soft Wave machine each time and it gave me noticeably great improvements each visit from the pain spasms as well as immediate improvement for my range of movement. I’ve since been to him for other back/neck pain, hormone care and more and each time I am impressed with his care and ease of treatment. Not only does he listen and care about the intricacies of what I’m experiencing with my pain, but he thinks outside the box each time and makes sure to apply the right modality to ease my symptoms and treat the source of the problem. I have progressed with each treatment and cannot thank him enough for the relief he’s given me!
Thank you Dr. Ito!!!”
